About RootsLore
RootsLore is a private family-history platform. Most of us can only name our family two generations back — a grandparent, maybe a great-grandparent — and then the trail goes cold. RootsLore exists for the third generation and beyond: a place to record the people you remember and watch where they came from take shape on a map.
What it does
You add the people in your family — their names, the years they were born, married, moved and passed away, and the places those moments happened. RootsLore draws two things from that record:
- A family tree that links each person to their parents, partners and children across the generations.
- A living, time-lapsed map. Press play and watch your family move across the world, decade by decade — births, migrations and homes appearing in the places they really happened.
Built around privacy
Your family belongs to you. You can start building immediately without creating an account, and the tree you make is private to you until you choose to share a link with your family. We do not sell personal data, and a tree is only visible to the people you explicitly invite.
Where we’re going
Alongside private family trees, we are building a public library of historical genealogies — royal houses and notable lineages of Europe, Korea and beyond — presented through the same interactive tree and map, with original commentary on the journeys behind them.
